Romeo and Juliet Essay Day to day, we interact with our family. These interactions can have a great influence on our emotional and psychological responses, and can destroy an individual’s self-worth, build it up, or do both. In Romeo and Juliet, a play written by William Shakespeare, two lovers from enemy families embark on a journey toward their death marked tragedy. Juliet, the wife, happens to kick-start the disastrous outcome of the relationship by drinking a sleeping potion as part of a plan to escape her family’s desire for her to have a second marriage. This brings about trouble, as Lady Capulet would really like Juliet to marry Paris, however, Juliet does not have the desire to do so. This simple conflict is developed throughout the story, as now Capulet and Lady Capulet force Juliet to marry Paris. When we read the story, we do learn that the real reason behind her parent’s desire for Juliet to marry Paris is wealth and status, as Paris comes from the family of the Prince while Romeo does not. Because of this, things really do spiral out of control, leading to the couple s suicide eventually. When Juliet rebels against the planned marriage with Paris, she’s rebelling against her mother’s way of life, and against the marriage her Lady Capulet learned to suffer through. It seems as so that Lady Capulet did also have a forced marriag e like the one of Juliet and Paris, however, it seems as so that she went with it obediently.
